Put simply, yes, you can legally fly a drone in Prague.

This is great news for drone pilots and anyone who loves Prague. Being able to see Prague from a birds-eye view is breathtaking. It really captures the city’s beauty in a way not capable from the ground.

Getting Your Drone Into the Czech Republic

Getting your drone into the Czech Republic is extremely easy. Compared to other countries like Turkey, the Czech Republic’s drone laws are a walk in the park. You need to register your drone with the CAA (Czech Republic’s Civil Aviation Authority).

Rules for Flying a Drone in Prague

The same in all countries, if you intend to fly a drone, Czech Republic have their own set of rules. Also, parts of Prague, and the Czech Republic, have UNESCO status which comes with their own set of rules.

So make sure to follow these if you are flying a drone in Prague. You don’t want to be given a fine or have your drone confiscated. 

These are the most important rules to follow in Prague:

  • You must keep a direct line of sight
  • You must not fly above 120 metres (roughly 400 feet)
  • The drone mustn’t drop anything
  • The drone mustn’t carry anything dangerous or illegal 
  • Drones can only be flown during the day
  • Drones are not to be flown over crowds of people or animals
  • The maximum allowed weight for a drone is 25kg

Obviously, the universally standard rule of no flying near airports or areas of sensitivity like military bases applies. It is also highly recommended to have insurance to cover flying your drone in public spaces.

Old Town Square

The most central location on this list is Old Town Square. Located in the heart of Prague, it’s the most accessible photo location and one that’s not to be missed! 

The Astronomical clock makes for some amazing photos here too, but the whole square is beautiful. Just look at it, it’s like something out of a fairy tale!

Vltava River

Running through Prague is the Vltava River – it starts in the south of the Czech Republic, passing through a multitude of gorgeous cities including Prague. It can be photographed from every angle, from anywhere and still look dreamy! It’s so picturesque and allows the beauty of Prague to shine bright.

 Words can’t describe how beautiful it is, the bridges, blue water and the orange rooftops of Prague’s buildings, it’s indescribable.

Dancing House

This wonderfully unique building makes for some of the best photos coming out of Prague. The discussions and questions it creates really set the photos on another level.
